What is a CBA?

CBA Flyer PDFCBA is a job trial tool.

It is designed to give an individual an up-close look at the world of work as they perform job duties typical of an employee in your business. At Capabilities, we work with individuals who want to work, but may not know the job they want to do. Capabilities will work with the individual to find job sites and locations for them to try jobs.

An assessment of Consumer’s unique strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities and capabilities; or is intended to determine if a consumer is capable of performing the essential functions of a specific job. The assessment must take place at a competitive job in an integrated setting in the community. Integrated setting is defined as a setting in which consumers interact with non-disabled individuals other than service providers. The Job Coach, JC, will be on-site and with the consumer during the assessment to provide instruction, evaluate consumer’s interaction with peers, work behaviors, work tolerance, skills, and abilities. The consumer is paid the current Ohio minimum wage rate. The final CBA written report will also include consumer’s functional capacity areas of deficit, safety issues/concerns, consumer strengths, recommendations, and answers to specific referral questions.

For the employer, this is a free service where Capabilities will bring in someone to your site to try out a job.  There is no expectation that the consumer will be placed in the job after the service is complete, as this is a tool that we use to assess if people will be a good match for a specific career.  Capabilities pays the individual on our payroll, so Capabilities has all the insurance to cover the individual at your site.
